The Neighborhood of Preston and the Prestonwood Country Club
The neighborhood of Preston originally started with the establishment of a local Country Club and golf course, which opened in 1988. Currently known as the Prestonwood Country Club, it now has three 18-hole golf courses, a pool, tennis courts, and a fitness center.
The Preston Country Club was bought by four individuals in 1991 who not only greatly improved the Country Club but also began building houses and roads nearby, creating the modern neighborhood community. The house prices in Preston usually range from $250,000 to $3,000,000+ and can vary in size from 2,200 sq. ft. to 8,000 sq. ft. or more.
Much of the Preston community borders the Prestonwood Country Club, which remains the focal point of the community – just as it has for roughly 30 years.
Amenities and Things to Do in the Preston Area
All of Preston has easy access to major roads and highways – as well as several shopping centers. However, the neighborhood is quite peaceful as well, with several greenspaces and public parks in the vicinity to explore.
The Preston area is close to the popular Bond Park, which has a number of greenway trails for running and biking, and a place to rent canoes and kayaks along the park’s waterfront. Some, however, would argue that the Bond Park Lake is best for beginning paddlers, because of the several beautiful lakes in the surrounding area that are miles-wild, and which are wonderful destinations to explore.
Another popular activity that Preston residents can easily enjoy is fishing, thanks to a wide variety of environments such as lakes, creeks, and river. Cary is also no more than a 2.5 hour drive from the beach, so enjoying a day at the local North Carolina seashoreis easy.
With an on-site country club, a local park, and easy access to countless activities, Preston is a good fit for active residents of all varieties. In the heart of the action but nicely peaceful, Preston offers the best of all worlds when it comes to a Cary home.
